Sendblue — start with the direction

Sendblue publishes a free sandbox and a $100 per dedicated line AI Agent plan. The important buying distinction is outbound access: starting customer conversations belongs to its custom Enterprise tier, rather than the entry production plan.

OUR TAKE

Best fit: an inbound-first production agent

Sendblue is easy to understand once you separate receiving a customer’s first message from initiating the thread yourself. An inbound assistant may fit the public plan closely. A sales sequence that starts conversations needs a different quote, even if both projects use the same API.

A useful public plan boundary

The pricing page lists a dedicated line, webhooks and callbacks, media, typing and reactions on AI Agent. It advertises 1,000 inbound contacts daily. That is a provider allowance, not a measured capacity result from this publication. Enterprise adds full outbound and multiple lines; request the actual permissions and service terms for your intended workload.

The sandbox has a narrower job

The free environment uses a shared number and permits up to ten verified contacts. It is inbound-first and does not include webhooks or callbacks. You can examine request shapes and basic conversation behavior there, but you cannot use it to prove a production webhook pipeline works. Budget for a production trial if event delivery is central to your application.

The decision hinge

Write down who sends the first message in every journey. Include scheduled reminders, reactivation and agent follow-ups, then ask how each is classified. Confirm channel fallback and number continuity. Security statements on a product page should be followed by the current report and contractual scope when they matter to procurement.

The decision in one sentence

A strong shortlist entry for inbound conversations; buy outbound permissions deliberately rather than assuming they accompany a line.
